It's that time of year again! In recognition of National Homeownership Month (June), the Brownsville Housing Authority in collaboration with Community Development Corporation of Brownsville and Cameron County Housing Authority would like to cordially invite you to our 10 th Annual Homeownership Fair.

Join us this year in offering the residents of Brownsville first-hand information about the process of becoming homeowners. The event will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2007, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the Brownsville Events Center located at 1 Events Center Blvd.

There are many ways in which you can show your support and advance the mission to help families become homeowners. Please consider sponsoring this event and take advantage of the promotional advertising (attached you will find the sponsorship levels). You may also consider donating an item for our door prizes. Or you can participate by reserving table/booth and attending to deliver any information brochures, displays, business cards, etc. that will be valuable to prospective homebuyers.Please fill out the attached form if you are interested in attending or sponsoring this event. Registration deadline is April 19, 2007, in order to provide suitable accommodations to participating agencies. Eligibility / Steps or Participation

• Participation in Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program with the exception of elderly/disabled families

• Complete an initial Section 8 lease term

• Must not have outstanding debt with the BHA or any other Housing Authority

• Must be a first time home buyer or have a household member who is disabled

• Meet minimum income requirements with the exception of elderly/disabled families

• Meet requisite employment criteria with the exception of elderly/disabled families

• Not defaulted on a mortgage, securing debt to purchase a home under the homeownership option

• Not have a household member with present ownership interest in a residence at the commencement of homeownership assistance

Restrictions / Conditions / Allowances

• Purchase must be within the City of Brownsville

• Can be new or existing single-family dwellings

• Portability only to jurisdictions with Section 8 Home Ownership Programs (Applicant must qualify at new jurisdiction or the BHA must be allowed to administer assistance in the new jurisdiction)
